Teaching

Visual Sociology is one of the possible specializations of the Master's program in Sociology and is offered at the Institute for Sociology since 2012. Within the specialization, students have the opportunity to gain knowledge in theory and practice within the field while working on projects of their own interest. Research centered teaching offers insights on current projects, motivates and supports students to aim for the implementation and adaptation of existing concepts of Visual Sociology in their own work. Many contributions, from research papers to master and doctor theses, refer to photographs, paintings, collages, comics, graffiti, television, film or video as specific visual media. Selected papers are available for download here (in German). For further information regarding courses within Visual Sociology please refer to the course catalogue.
